With close to 200 courses in the area and great golf weather throughout most of the year, the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is one of the most popular golf destinations in the world. The peak season is winter and spring since temperatures are cooler and courses are generally heavily overseeded, although summer and fall are the best times to find deals. Desert Highlands
This gated community and television’s Skins Game debuted together in 1983. The golf course is a flash-bunkered beauty by Jack Nicklaus, conceived with the blessing of developer Lyle Anderson. It’s possible that more money changes hands on the community’s enormous, Gary Panks–designed putting course.

Opened in 1995, Estancia is nestled on 640 acres of the northern slope of Scottsdale’s famed landmark, Pinnacle Peak, in a private, gated community. Honored internationally, the Tom Fazio designed 18-hole championship golf course offers 7,314 yards of superb golf, bent grass greens and breathtaking views. Ease of play is impressive at 17,000 annual rounds and enhanced by an active caddy program. Estancia is a private club, owned and operated by its members.

Mirabel
